Today we’re a small team of 2 here at Thimble, and we think our size is what makes us a great place to work. We’re a supportive, hands-on team that has already seen every scale of a startup’s lifecycle, from pre-market products to scaling past $100M in revenue. Our aim is to build a team that will learn from and support each other, as we bring our approach to new projects and clients.

We’re hiring! If you’re a budding software engineer with a keen interest in technical and applied problems, we want to hear from you.

Josh Balloch

Hello, I’m Josh! I’m a self-taught software engineer. I got my first break in software working for a small architecture startup in Shanghai. Since then I’ve worked in New York and London, with startups at every stage of growth.

I started Thimble in 2017, after moving to London with my husband. I started Thimble to continue to work with startups during those early growth phases during which a company’s technical foundations can play a key role in its survival. The projects I have had the opportunity to work on have not disappointed - from working with Florence building its first system for automated payments to improving systems integrations and fulfillment operations at Casper, it’s been an awesome ride.

Katherine Bowler

Hi, I'm Katherine! In my past life, I was a Science Teacher before I decided I wanted to become a software engineer. Since then, I've worked on projects in healthcare, ecommerce, and tech-for-good, building everything from APIs to data pipelines.

I started at Thimble early in 2018. When I joined, I was looking for a role where I could gain exposure to software problems at a variety of different-stage startups. My first project with Casper has already been a fantastic journey. I've worked with talented engineers from Casper's Berlin and New York offices on their fulfillment & operations systems. I've learned a lot about how ecommerce businesses work and, together with Josh, have been continuously improving our approach in how we use this knowledge to build and maintain software.
